Very nice wine and tapas bar located in a beautiful heritage building on boulevard Montcalm. Upscale yet casual interior. Only problem was price. Typical prices for 4 oz glasses of wine were in the $8 to 10 range.The tapas were excellent but at least a third to small. Our order for 4 glasses of wine and 3 tapas set us back by 90$ and we were hungry when we left.Service was attentive and knowledgeable, no criticism there at all.

As you would know expect, nice wine options with knowledgeable staff.

The wine list is amazing, we had the chance to discover new amazing wine, food was good, the portion were a little bit expensive.

Very cool wine bar with a great selection of wine. The decor is very welcoming and thematic with cork walls and wine glasses hanging next to the light fixtures over every table. They have a very cool wine flight of three wines to taste, which is a great if you are just stopping in a for a quick drink or as a nice way to start your evening. The food menu is limited but what there is delicious.

The wines here are amazing. I've gone several times and always ask the staff to pick a selection of wines for me, and they are consistently exquisite. The service is also fantastic, whether on a quiet weeknight or a busy weekend. If you like wine at all, you will value this place for the absolute gem that it is.

Excellent selection of unique wines. I love the Quebec wine flights. They come from small production wineries that are otherwise hard to find retail. Menu ingredients are locally sourced and never fail to please. Matching is superbly done by knowledgeable staff. I discover something new every time.

Excellent experience, atmosphere and staff. Food quality is fantastic. A bit pricey and expect small portions since you know it's a wine bar.

Unquestionably one of the most delicious and inviting eateries in the area. They will introduce you to interesting wine and exceptional flavours. You should go.

Lovely menu, wine choices and service to match. Not pretentious, a fun night of food and wine. Duck Gizzards were excellent, Veal cheek a close second.

Very good wine selection but food a bit expensive

Interesting menu and large wine selection. Food menu is most fascinating (wild mushroom ragout and bison tartare were excellent, even the tapenade and mousse-butter) but bread was disappointing , wish they'd offer some french baguette!Wine flights: 2 options (white or red flights) of 3 wines of 2 oz for $22. Wish more flights were offered... or make your own with 2 oz up to $15-18.Desserts: chocolate caramel ants fleur de sel with hazelnuts was great ($9).Trendy bar area, okay service.

Still one of the best wine focused restaurants in the capital region. Awesome beer list on top of a top notch food menu. 👍👍

Had a great experience at Soif. Food was exceptional and well thought out. Portions are smaller and so be ready to order a few plates per person. Best to share! Extensive wine list as well. Service was super friendly and professional. Deserving of its accolades and definitely a recommended visit!

service was excellent. food was a bit too rich and heavy lacking vibrancy. portions so tiny for the price. i was designated driver but 3 friends seemed to feel wine was good but the food just wasn't for us. i think the place would do better if food was a little less constructed and simplified.perhaps pricing coild also be improved. desserts were quite delicious

They import and know there wines which are mostly imported. The food is great.

Really solid experience at Soif! We tried a few dishes but our favourites were the Brussels sprouts, duck, and the hazelnut dessert. My husband enjoyed his wine pairing and my drink was good as well. The service is fairly quick and friendly and the atmosphere is great. We will come back. The prices are also reasonable for the plate size.

Excellent food and great wine selection

The place has a good selection of wines and small bites. Interesting tapas thou nothing really exceptional. The servers are knowledgeable and friendly, we asked for wine pairing recommendations in every tapas that we ordered and they were all spot on. The place could get packed and noisy.

Wen with friends to sample and judge wine pairings with a four course meal. The food was absolutely amazing with tastes I've never experienced before and the wine was top notch. Not only was is magic for the eyes, nose and mouth, it was an education on the effect that food has on the taste of wine. The owner, one of the first female somaliers in the world, came to the table a number of times to answer any questions and ensure that we were enjoying ourselves. All in all a wonderful evening that left all four of us satisfied in a lot of ways. Will definately be going back.

Small place, nice atmosphere, excellent food, and likely the best selection of wines in the Gatineau/Ottawa area! Staff are very knowledgeable about wine pairings and the menu items. Nice patio at the back, for those warm summer evenings.

Have been to Soif numerous times and without fail, the dining experience is always spectacular, from the service, knowledgeable servers to the creative menu items. Today my friend and I savoured their wine flights with wines from France and Spain and the main course of pork with mushrooms in a jus was flavourful and done to perfection. Highly recommend.

Amazing spot in Gatineau not far from Ottawa. Food and wine pairings beyond all expectations and a fantastic staff.

The ambiance is very nice, clever decor, good selection of wines, staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The reason why I give this place 3 and not 5 stars is that the food is ok certainly not great and extremely over priced for what at the end of the day is a tapas bar! Definitely go there for a drink and try the red and white flights

Made reservations two days in advance. We were really excited to try this wine bar as both my girlfriend and I are doing our sommelier class. We get there and they want to sit us beside a table with a crying baby (seriously who brings their crying kid to a wine bar!!!!!!). We ask for another table (there were several empty ones on the patio) we are told they are all reserved. What was our reservation for??????The waiter then brings us inside the restaurant and sits us at a table. The restaurant is empty. Not a single other patron. No atmosphere. The waiter tells us he’s going to speak to the manager. No one does anything. No apologies and no attempt is made to find us a more suitable table. We left without ordering anything and we are never going back.

Had a birthday party here. Good atmosphere, Excellent wine menu and the staffs were very kind!!

Tapas and wine. A very good experience. Waitresses were very polite and they accommodated us, without a reservation. The only thing that was a little odd is they kept mentioning that we should order quickly as the rush was about to start and then it would take much longer to get our orders. I heard them say this numerous times to other customers as well. This shouldn't be an issue, just go on with your night.Lastly, they ran out of certain popular dishes very early in the evening. The place was not even busy yet(other than the patio), but they ran out of menu items... A little fishy.

Incredible. Amazing food with amazing service. Great atmosphere inside this beautiful restaurant. Server was extremely friendly and offered suggestions since I had no idea what I wanted. Suggested drinks that go well with the food. Spot on, everything I had was to die for. Portions aren't as small as one would think for tapas sized dishes which was a pleasant surprise. Would come back if I'm ever in the Gatineau/Ottawa area again.

Ate here regularly over a number of weeks. Absolutely great food, lovely place to sit, staff are amazing and very accommodating and get to know their customers with a friendly outlook on things. Food is interesting and always delightful, and the staff are very knowledgeable about the food served and the drinks available. Atmosphere is great. A combination of quiet and intimate, relaxed with a free-flowing mix of couples eating quietly together and groups in animated chats and having fun. Can't recommend it enough.

If you're into an food and drink experience this is the place for you. If you're looking for a club sandwich with fries this place is not for you. We had oysters, bison heart, veal cheek and bison tongue. The atmosphere is something special. You can go there and tell the waitress I'm in the mood for a clean gin and tonic they know what you're talking about. The options are endless when it comes to wine and drinks. Well worth the price of the meal. Will return.

Easily one of, if not the best restaurants in the Ottawa area. It was a pleasure dining here. Amazing Friday night (even though we were hung over from our meal at Citizen the night before). Bison Tartar was on point, best beets i have ever had in my life, endives were so delicious it was almost like a dessert (butter and caramel, yum!). We had an incredible bottle of wine, incredible food. I cannot wait to go back in the summer and sit outside. Good job Team Soif! Our server was one of the best we have had at a restaurant.
